Why we invested in Sharpi

4 min readNov 25, 2025

MAYA Capital led Sharpi’s pre-seed round, backing its mission of transforming how sales transactions happen in Latin America. The round also includes participation from founders of Brazilian unicorns Stone, Vtex, and iFood.

The problem in a nutshell:

If you walk into any industry or distributor in Brazil, you’ll see the same scene: sales reps juggling voice notes, photos, and text messages on WhatsApp, trying to piece together orders before manually retyping them into an ERP. It’s the invisible backbone of a $240 billion industry.

Over 90% of B2B orders in Brazil happen this way. Yet behind this daily hustle lies a system built on inefficiency: slow response times, high error rates, and lost revenue. Sales teams spend most of their day transcribing rather than selling. Buyers wait hours for confirmations and entire supply chains run on chat threads that no one can track.

Sharpi was born from that chaos. The team saw that WhatsApp wasn’t just a messaging app: it had become Latin America’s most powerful commercial channel. And if AI could understand those conversations, it could rebuild how trade flows across the region.

A user-loved solution:

Sharpi acts as an AI co-pilot for sales teams, sitting seamlessly on top of WhatsApp to turn everyday messages into clean, ERP-ready orders. Here’s how it works:

  • Message Interpretation: Sharpi automatically identifies products, quantities, and pricing from unstructured WhatsApp messages — even with typos or abbreviations. Its model learns how each client writes, their vocabulary, and their preferences, becoming increasingly personalized and accurate over time.
  • Quote Generation: In seconds, it creates a pre-filled quote that reps can review, edit, and approve with a few clicks.
  • Client Confirmation: Sharpi sends professional, branded quotes back to customers via WhatsApp with clickable confirmation buttons.
  • ERP Integration: Once approved, the order is automatically created and logged in the company’s ERP — no manual entry required.
  • Data Intelligence: Every interaction is stored, enabling repeat orders, cross-sell suggestions, and sales insights based on real behavior.

For customers, it feels effortless. For industries and distributors, it means up to 10x faster order processing, 60% shorter response times, and a sales team that is finally free to focus on growth. Orders that previously took 20 minutes to process now enter the system in under 2 minutes.

But beyond the product, what truly stood out during our diligence was the intensity of user love — something rare to find at such an early stage company. In conversations with large distributors, a sales rep told us he used to spend 12 hours a day manually entering orders from just one key account into the ERP. Another one told us there would be a “mutiny” if the company he worked at took Sharpi away. These moments made it clear to us that this wasn’t just better software, it was a tool transforming people’s work in real time.

But the vision goes beyond efficiency. Sharpi is rebuilding the commercial infrastructure for Latin America: a single platform where conversations, transactions, and insights coexist. Over time, its AI will move from interpreting orders to proactively generating them, reactivating dormant customers, suggesting next purchases, and eventually executing workflows with human oversight.

A strong team with an unique background:

From the very beginning, what stood out to us wasn’t just the scale of the opportunity, but the unmistakable sense that the founders were shaped by this problem long before Sharpi existed. Their stories made it clear that this company could only have been built by them.

Kim Rawicz, Sharpi’s CEO, has always been a builder. At eight, he was producing short films and by ten, he wrote a World War II book that sold thousands of copies. By seventeen, he had launched a pastry brand out of his mother’s kitchen, scaling it to thousands of daily orders and a full-time team. Running that business exposed him to the inefficiencies of Brazil’s B2B supply chain — the spark that would eventually become Sharpi. Today, that same resourcefulness and relentless curiosity drive how he codes, iterates, and learns at an exceptional pace.

Alexandre Philippi, Sharpi’s CTO, brings the perfect complement: a systems thinker with the technical rigor to turn complexity into code. A graduate of the Apple Developer Academy and winner of the Apple WWDC Scholarship (2018), Alexandre has led engineering teams that value both performance and precision. As a partner in a beverage distribution business, he experienced firsthand how orders got lost inside chat threads and became determined to solve it through technology.

MAYA’s investment in Sharpi reflects our firm belief that this team is building the infrastructure layer that will power B2B sales across the region, starting with WhatsApp, and soon, everywhere business happens. We’re proud to be backing Kim, Alexandre, and the whole Sharpi team on this journey.
